What is Transformer Comprehensive Test Bench?

 

  The transformer comprehensive test bench is specialized equipment for evaluating the performance of power transformers, capable of conducting multiple electrical parameter tests including no-load losses, load losses, turns ratio, DC resistance, and insulation resistance.

Testing Function:

1. Turns Ratio and Connection Group Testing

Verify whether the voltage turns ratio of the transformer's high- and low-voltage windings conforms to design specifications, while determining the winding connection group (e.g., Yyn0, Dyn11).

2. DC Resistance Testing

Measure the DC resistance values of each transformer winding to assess winding conductor weld quality, winding turn uniformity, and tap changer contact integrity.

3. Insulation Resistance and Absorption Ratio / Polarization Index Testing

Using a high-voltage megohmmeter module, inspect insulation performance between windings, between windings and core, and between windings and casing to assess insulation aging or moisture ingress.

4. Power Frequency Withstand Voltage Test

Simulates overvoltage conditions during transformer operation by applying power frequency high voltage to windings for a specified duration. Tests the dielectric strength of insulation layers and identifies insulation defects.

5. No-Load and Load Characteristic Tests

No-Load Test: Measures transformer no-load losses and no-load current to evaluate core quality and assembly workmanship.

Load Test: Measures transformer load losses and impedance voltage to evaluate operational efficiency and short-circuit withstand capability.

6. Tap Changer Characteristic Test

For on-load or off-load tap-changing transformers, evaluates tap changer performance metrics including switching sequence timing, contact resistance, and switching reliability.
