Power Frequency Withstand Voltage Test VS AC Withstand Voltage Test

 

Test Frequency:

  Power frequency withstand voltage test is a special type of AC withstand voltage test. The key difference lies in the testing frequency. Power frequency testing applies high AC voltage at the rated power frequency of the equipment (50 Hz or 60 Hz) for a specified period of time. The AC withstand voltage test can include power frequency at different frequencies.

 

Test  Object:

  The power frequency test mainly measures whether the insulation can withstand the impact of power frequency voltage under normal working conditions, and verifies the insulation performance of small capacity products such as power transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear. The application of  AC withstand test is more widely used for testing the insulation level of equipment in special environments, especially for power cables with large capacity, which require the use of AC series resonant withstand voltage testing devices for withstand voltage testing operations.

 

Summary: In fact, the power frequency withstand voltage test is a special type of AC withstand voltage test. Although the test frequency and object are different, there is no essential difference. Both belong to AC withstand voltage tests.
