Gas Chromatograph Analyzer

Gas Chromatograph Analyzer

The HM9890 is a gas chromatograph (GC), a high-precision laboratory instrument used for the separation and quantitative analysis of volatile compounds. It separates complex mixtures into individual components and accurately determines the content of each component. Suitable for determining the content of dissolved gas components in electrical system insulating oil. It can complete 7 types of gas components H2, CO, CO2, CH4, C2H4, C2H6, C2H2 (hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide) dissolved in insulating oil with one injection. Complete analysis of methane, ethylene, ethane, acetylene content, and the minimum detectable concentration of acetylene was 0.06 ppm.

Product Overview & Applications

2

The HM9890 is a gas chromatograph (GC), a high-precision laboratory instrument designed for the separation and quantitative analysis of volatile compounds. It separates complex mixtures into individual components and accurately determines the concentration of each component. It is suitable for measuring dissolved gas components in insulating oil within electrical systems. It can simultaneously detect seven gas components in insulating oil: H₂, CO, CO₂, CH₄, C₂H₄, C₂H₆, and C₂H₂ (hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide). It provides complete analysis of methane, ethylene, ethane, and acetylene content, with acetylene's minimum detectable concentration being 0.06 ppm.

Application Areas:

1. Power and Energy: Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) in transformer oil

2. Petrochemicals: Component analysis of crude oil, refined petroleum products, and chemical feedstocks

3. Environmental Monitoring: Organic pollutants (VOCs, SVOCs) in air, water, and soil

4. Food Safety: Detection of pesticide residues, additives, and flavor components in food

5. Pharmaceuticals and Health: Drug purity, impurity content, and biological sample analysis

Maintenance & FAQs

Q: What is the HM9890 used for?

A: It's a precision analyzer that separates and measures trace gases/volatile compounds in liquids or gases-primarily for power system maintenance (e.g., testing dissolved gases in transformer oil to detect internal faults like overheating or arcing). It also works for industrial applications like oil quality control and environmental gas analysis .

Q: What key components does it include?

A:

Standard configuration covers core GC functions:

Dual Detectors: Thermal Conductivity Detector (TCD) for common gases (H₂, O₂, N₂) and Hydrogen Flame Ionization Detector (FID) for organic compounds .

Column Oven: Precise temperature control for compound separation.

Auto Sampler: Optional (for liquid/oil samples) to reduce manual error.

EPC System: Electronic pressure control for stable carrier gas flow .

Q: What compounds can it detect?

A:Dissolved gases in transformer oil: H₂, CH₄, C₂H₂, C₂H₄, C₂H₆, CO, CO₂ (critical for fault diagnosis).

Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in industrial oils or environmental samples .

Q: What are its technical performance highlights?

A:Accuracy: Peak area reproducibility <1% RSD; retention time reproducibility <0.008% .

Sensitivity: FID  <1.2 pgC/s (for organics); TCD  <400 pg/mL (for gases) .

Temperature Range: Column oven works from 5°C above ambient to 450°C .

Speed: Completes transformer oil gas analysis in ~30 minutes (auto-run mode).

Q:How to prepare samples for testing?

A:Transformer Oil: Take 5–10mL of oil (use clean, dry vials); for dissolved gases, use the built-in headspace sampler (heats oil to release gases) .

Gases: Connect directly to the gas inlet (ensure no air leakage; use clean tubing).

Rule: Avoid sample contamination (clean vials with solvent; dry before use).
