HMCXZ-13200kVA/100kV Ultra-High-Capacity Series Resonance High-Voltage Equipment Enters Testing Phase; Domestic UHV Testing Equipment Reaches New Heights

Recently, the HMCXZ-13200kVA/100kV variable-frequency series resonance test system, independently developed by Wuhan Guodian Huamei Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd., officially entered the comprehensive testing phase. As a major breakthrough for the HMCXZ series in the field of ultra-high-capacity, long-distance cable withstand voltage testing, this equipment boasts a rated capacity of up to 13,200 kVA, making it the leading system among domestic series-resonance test units of its class. This marks a new milestone for China in the field of ultra-high-capacity variable-frequency series-resonance testing equipment.

  • Outstanding Specifications, Leading Performance

The HMCXZ-13200kVA/100kV series resonant high-voltage testing system has a rated capacity of 13,200 kVA, a rated voltage of 100 kV, and a rated current of 132 A. The equipment utilizes a 32-bit RISC CPU with a streamlined LINX core and is equipped with a 7-inch capacitive touchscreen featuring a true-color graphical interface, capable of displaying test resonance frequency curves, voltage ramp-up curves, and timing curves in real time. Compared to traditional equipment, this unit overcomes input power limitations by supporting both single-phase 220 V and three-phase 380 V as power sources, significantly enhancing on-site adaptability; The output voltage waveform distortion rate is ≤1%, and the unit's own quality factor Q is ≥30 (f=45 Hz); it is capable of continuous operation for 60 minutes under rated load, with a temperature rise of ≤65 K; the system's measurement accuracy reaches Class 1.5, and all technical specifications meet industry-leading standards.

The equipment primarily consists of a variable-frequency controlled power supply, an excitation transformer, high-voltage reactors, and a capacitive voltage divider. The reactors are designed as multiple separate units, enabling the device to meet both high-voltage, low-current testing conditions and low-voltage AC withstand voltage test requirements, thus offering a wide range of applications.

  • Focusing on Long-Distance Cables: Unique Application Scenarios

This unit is primarily designed and manufactured for AC withstand voltage testing of 35 kV submarine cables with a length of 25,000 meters. Specific test subjects include: AC withstand voltage testing of 35 kV, 400 mm², 25,000 m cross-linked cables (test frequency 30–300 Hz, capacitance ≤ 5.365 μF, maximum test voltage not exceeding 91 kV); AC withstand voltage testing of 35 kV, 500 mm², 23,000-meter cross-linked cables (capacitance ≤ 5.338 μF); and AC withstand voltage testing of 35 kV, 630 mm², 21,000-meter cross-linked cables (capacitance ≤ 5.319 μF). This unit can also be widely used for AC withstand voltage tests on high-voltage electrical equipment such as 110 kV and 220 kV power cables, power transformers, GIS, circuit breakers, insulators, and high-voltage transformers. With its ultra-high capacity of 13,200 kVA, this unit is particularly suitable for special scenarios with extremely high testing capacity requirements, such as long-distance, large-cross-section submarine cables, making it the ideal withstand voltage testing equipment for power installation, maintenance, and testing engineering units.

  • Rigorous Testing, Quality Assurance

Currently, the equipment is undergoing comprehensive and rigorous testing across multiple dimensions, covering key aspects such as visual inspection, accuracy calibration, voltage-rising performance verification, and withstand duration testing. Previously, a 13,200 kVA/100 kV series resonance test unit of the same model successfully passed factory acceptance testing. After undergoing rigorous inspections-including a 60-minute AC withstand voltage test, temperature rise testing, visual inspection, and component checks-it was shipped via dedicated transport to the customer's facility. The unit features a new segmented withstand voltage control system, allowing for future capacity upgrades. These tests will further verify the equipment's stability and reliability under various complex operating conditions, ensuring it can efficiently support the safe operation of the power system after delivery.

  • Significant Advantages of Resonance Technology

Based on the principle of series resonance, this unit uses a variable-frequency power supply to automatically search for the resonance point across a wide frequency range, greatly simplifying the selection and configuration of reactors. Compared to traditional test transformers, series resonance technology offers several key advantages: the required power supply capacity is only 1/Q of the test capacity (where the Q-factor can exceed 30), significantly reducing on-site power requirements; The resonant circuit possesses inherent filtering capabilities, producing a pure sine wave output with minimal waveform distortion, effectively preventing false breakdown of test specimens caused by harmonics; When insulation breakdown or flashover occurs in a test specimen, the circuit immediately detunes, causing the loop current to rapidly drop to 1/Q of the normal value, effectively preventing damage to the fault point caused by high short-circuit currents; At the same time, the high voltage dissipates rapidly, preventing recovery overvoltage and comprehensively ensuring the safety of test specimens, equipment, and personnel.
