Maintenance & FAQs

Q: What is the primary purpose of the 800V battery load box?

A:It is used to perform controlled full-capacity discharge testing on high-voltage DC battery systems-such as UPS backup power supplies, data centers, telecom sites, or renewable energy storage systems-to verify their actual runtime and health status. This device simulates real-world application demands by applying precise electrical loads.

Q: Can an 800 V load bank be used to test a single 12 V battery?

A: No. This equipment is specially designed for high-voltage battery strings. It must be connected to the entire battery block in series, with the total voltage of the block falling within the operating range of the device (e.g. approximately 480 V for 40 12 V batteries in series). The load bank must be connected in parallel with the entire battery string.

Q: How do you set the correct discharge current?

A:The current is usually set as a C-rate (e.g., C/10, C/5) or as a fixed current. You must program it according to the test rate recommended by the battery manufacturer and the nominal capacity (Ah) of the bank. You can set it precisely using the test bench controls.

Q:How long does a typical test take?

A:Test duration depends on the discharge rate and battery condition. A standard 8-hour discharge test (C/8 rate) takes 8 hours. A faster 3-hour test (C/3 rate) takes 3 hours. The load test bench will run continuously until either the termination voltage is reached or the target amp-hour discharge is completed.

Q: What are the key safety hazards?

A:High-voltage direct current: Presents a significant risk of electric shock and sustained arc flash.

Extreme temperatures: Exhaust gases from load banks reach extremely high temperatures, posing a risk of burns or fire.

Hydrogen gas: Battery discharge (particularly under load conditions) generates flammable hydrogen gas.

Heavy-duty cables: High-current cables may generate intense heat.
