The HMCJ-5600kV Lightning Impulse Voltage Generator is a specialized testing instrument designed for high-voltage electrical equipment. It performs lightning impulse voltage tests (full-wave, chopped-wave), switching impulse voltage tests, and steep-front impulse voltage tests to evaluate the insulation performance of power transformers, instrument transformers, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), composite insulators, surge arresters, and other electrical equipment. By simulating natural lightning phenomena, this system ensures the safety and reliability of equipment under actual operating conditions.

The impulse voltage test system can generate pulse waveforms of various shapes. However, based on the requirements of test research and in accordance with relevant international and national standards, it primarily produces the following impulse voltage waveforms:

1. Standard lightning impulse waveform

2. Standard operating impulse waveform

3. Other special impulse voltage waveforms, such as special operating impulses.

For impulse voltage waveforms, three fundamental parameters are primarily defined to characterize the waveform shape: peak voltage, rise time, and fall time. The parameter definitions for the waveform are illustrated in Figure 2.
