Goldhome Successfully Completes Installation, Commissioning, and On-Site Testing of the GTU-400kVA/800kV Power Frequency Withstand Voltage Test System
On June 5, Mr. Liu, a senior service engineer at Goldhome, traveled to Xi'an, a city renowned for its history and culture, where he successfully completed the installation, commissioning, and on-site testing of the GTU-400kVA/800kV power frequency withstand voltage test system at the customer's testing site. With a rated capacity of 400kVA and a maximum output voltage of 800kV, this equipment serves as a power frequency withstand voltage testing platform developed by Goldhome specifically for high-end power equipment such as UHV electrical appliances, GIS switches, and transformers. The client highly praised Engineer Liu's technical expertise, the equipment's performance, and the on-site service.

The client is a major power transmission and transformation equipment manufacturer in Northwest China, whose newly constructed high-voltage testing hall urgently required a high-voltage, high-capacity power frequency withstand voltage testing system. Upon delivery of the GTU-400kVA/800kV equipment, Engineer Liu immediately traveled to the site to conduct a joint survey with the client's engineering and safety departments to assess site conditions, power supply capacity, and the grounding network. Due to the equipment's high voltage rating, there were stringent requirements regarding the clearances, safety barriers, and grounding resistance within the testing hall. Engineer Liu conducted on-site measurements and repeated verifications, guiding the client through the equipment foundation positioning, high-voltage lead layout, and integration of the safety interlock system.
During the installation process, Engineer Liu meticulously inspected the wiring and sealing of the test transformer, voltage regulator, coupling capacitors, protective impedance, and control cabinet, and tested the gas pressure and density relay signals of the gas-insulated modules. After two consecutive days of careful work, all hardware was installed and ready for power-up commissioning.

During the commissioning phase, Engineer Liu followed standard operating procedures (SOP) to progressively conduct the full verification process, including no-load voltage ramp-up, load voltage ramp-up, and withstand voltage testing. The equipment smoothly ramped up from 0 kV to the design upper limit of 800 kV. The voltage waveform distortion rate was less than 3%, and partial discharge levels were controlled below 1 pC, far exceeding the requirements of IEC 60060-1 and the customer's specifications. Subsequently, Engineer Liu connected the customer's test specimen (a section of 800 kV GIS busbar) to conduct the formal power-frequency withstand voltage test. During the test, the voltage remained stable, protective devices responded sensitively, and data recording was complete. Upon completion of the withstand voltage test, the test specimen showed no breakdown or flashover, successfully passing acceptance.
After witnessing the entire process, the client's technical lead stated: "Engineer Liu possesses exceptional technical expertise and a strong sense of responsibility. He explained every step clearly, from installation and wiring to the final testing. We are highly satisfied with the voltage stability and partial discharge levels of the GTU-400kVA/800kV equipment, which fully meets our requirements for routine and type testing of UHV products."
Following the completion of commissioning and testing, Engineer Liu conducted a two-day comprehensive training session for the client's operations and maintenance personnel. The training covered: equipment principles and safety operating procedures; the coordinated use of voltage regulators and test transformers; calibration and reading of the partial discharge measurement system; self-test methods for the rapid disconnection device; and diagnosis of common faults and emergency response procedures. The training combined theoretical instruction, on-site practical exercises, and assessment to ensure that each participant mastered the operational skills independently. Ultimately, all three of the client's technical personnel successfully passed the assessment and are now capable of independently completing the full set of withstand voltage test procedures.
The GTU series of power frequency withstand voltage test equipment is Goldhome's flagship product. Covering capacities from 50kVA to 1000kVA and voltage ratings from 50kV to 1200kV, the series features gas-insulated or oil-immersed designs and supports SF₆-free environmentally friendly gases. It is widely used in power equipment manufacturing plants, testing institutions, and research institutes. Engineer Liu's visit to Xi'an once again vividly demonstrated Goldhome's service philosophy of "rapid response, professional delivery, and customer satisfaction."
Moving forward, Goldhome will continue to strengthen its nationwide service network to provide every customer with an experience where "the equipment is excellent, and the service is even better." We welcome inquiries from both new and existing customers to jointly advance high-voltage testing technology to new heights.
