A partial-discharge-free compensating reactor for induced voltage test sets. Rated 20 kV and 10 A, with selectable 1.5 H, 3 H and 6 H inductance across a 20–300 Hz operating range, and a partial discharge level of 10 pC or lower.

Choosing an Inductance Tap
Resonance is set by the specimen capacitance and the test frequency together, which is why three taps are provided rather than a single fixed value.
1.5 H - the lowest inductance and the highest compensating current for a given voltage; suited to large specimens tested at the higher end of the frequency range
3 H - the middle tap, covering the most common 35 kV and 110 kV class transformer sizes
6 H - the highest inductance and the lowest compensating current; suited to smaller specimens or lower test frequencies
Two reactors are supplied with the standard system, so they can be operated in parallel when a larger specimen needs more compensating current, or kept as a spare.

A:The rated partial discharge level is 10 pC or lower. Because the reactor sits directly in the test circuit, keeping its discharge low is what allows a meaningful reading from the specimen.
